Corvette ERay: Deposit to Delivery

All about how I got such a low number on the ERay deposit list at the largest-volume Corvette dealership in the world, and we're following my 2024 Corvette ERay all the way through the assembly process until it's delivered to me... and beyond!

ERay Deposit Series #7: Shipping & Delivery

It won't be long now, boys and girls! I'll be taking delivery soon, so it's time to start a fresh page. My new Corvette ERay, which I'm calling "Leap" because it was built on Leap Day, will ship to the dealership any day now so that I can take delivery as soon as possible. As always, I'll update the bottom of this post regularly — in fact, probably even more often than previous pages because things will be happening faster.

ERay Deposit Series #6: TPW and Assembly

The original Order Progression page was starting to get pretty long (the longest of any page on this website so far), and I think that may make it difficult for some readers, so I'm continuing my regular updates here, posting the ongoing status of my ERay that's being built at Bowling Green Assembly (BGA) in Kentucky. I'll update the bottom of this post at least weekly

ERay Deposit Series #5: Order Progression

Here's where I'll post the ongoing status of my ERay order and factory production at Bowling Green Assembly (BGA). When anything new happens and when I have more information to share, I'll update the bottom of this post. This will be a lot of fun to follow, as I did with my 2021 Stingray, but things are also a lot more complicated right now because the United Auto Workers (UAW) are on strike. If that affects the assembly and ultimately the delivery of my 2024 ERay, I'll post about that here, as well.

ERay Deposit Series #4: Mail-Ins

Of course, not everyone with an interest in buying a 2024 Corvette ERay was able to wait in person to give MacMulkin Chevrolet their deposit. Do I feel blessed to live relatively close by the largest Corvette dealership in the world and be able to easily go there in person? Yes, I do!

But some people did come in from out of state. In fact, the two people ahead of me in line were there because they had flown in or driven there the previous day. I talked with people from Indiana, Maine, New York, California, Chicago, Maryland, Massachusetts, etc., but I never became aware of anybody else from the "Live Free or Die" state, New Hampshire!

ERay Deposit Series #3: You Stole Those!

Even though I got a lot of people signed in and helped maintain the unofficial "outside" list pretty much all of the previous day, I was not able to police the entire line of 97 people, nor did I have any interest in attempting to do so. After meeting with a sales manager, I had gone home to get ready for the next morning, but on "Red Carpet Day" after I'd given them my deposit and received my receipt showing that I was #3 on the official list for an ERay allocation, I talked with a friend who'd been further back in the line the night before and learned there had been some problems.

Rather than recount our personal conversation, here are some online quotes written by others who were there and witnessed the behavior.

ERay Deposit Series #2: Red Carpet Day

Even though I hadn't slept much on Monday night (I had woken up at 1:00 am after barely sleeping and then waited outside the dealership from about 2:00 am until just after 7:00 pm on Tuesday), I still had trouble sleeping Tuesday night because Wednesday was deposit day. I was too excited!

None of us knew why they were having us come back the next morning, and that caused me to have a small bit of doubt about my place in line. Because it wasn't official yet. They could have taken our checks when we went to the manager's desk after waiting all day outside. They even wanted to see that we had a check in our possession, but they didn't want to take it then. Why? I didn't know.

ERay Deposit Series #1: Waiting Overnight

I pulled into MacMulkin Chevrolet's side parking lot in Nashua, New Hampshire a little after 2:00am. I could see a couple of cars with lights on and knew I wasn't the first person there, so I quickly parked, grabbed my folding chair and bag of warm clothes, and jumped out of my SUV. I considered climbing over the walkway railing but decided I didn't need to attempt that with everything I was carrying, and after finding the end of the stairs, I made my way up the sidewalk on the east side of the building. I was in a hurry because this was the line to wait for MacMulkin's official ERay deposit day!

They had sent a map to people on their ERay Contact List to make sure we knew where to park and form the line.
