Chevrolet Corvette Gallery at NCM
In addition to the thirteen Corvette slideshows below, here's a brief photo introduction to the Chevrolet Corvette Gallery at the NCM.
Probably, many of you thought "NCM" meant National Corvette Museum, but I was able to get lots of great Corvette photos at the Newport Car Museum in Portsmouth, Rhode Island, so here they are. As of Spring 2023, when I took these 100+ photos, they did not have a C8 Corvette yet, but these are the historic Corvettes that have brought us to this point!

"The new Corvette was the first production car built with an all-fiberglass body. Only 300 were built in 1953, and when the 1954 model did not sell well General Motors considered cancelling production." Credit: NCM

"The 1957 (C1) Corvette ushered in a new era for Chevrolet and the American sports car market. Fuel injection was established in Europe but unavailable on American cars until Chevrolet and GM's Rochester carburetor division came up with a workable system (a $480 option) that not only increased top-end output but also spread power over a wider rpm range." "Despite GM's ban on racing, some Chevrolet engineers "just happened" to choose the Bahamas for their vacation destination during Nassau Speed Week in 1963 and were instrumental in helping the Grand Sports -- with greats such as Roger Penske, Jim Hall, Dick Thompson, John Cannon, and Augie Pabst driving -- crush their Cobra rivals." "The '04 Z06 gets a rice-inspired option in the form of a lightweight carbon-fiber hood that weighs just 20.5 pounds, 10.6 less than the standard unit. (GM says it is the first time that carbon biger has been used for a major body panel in a mass-production vehicle.) Atop the paint are silver stripes with red edges like those used as a Le Mans-only aesthetic on the C5-R race cars." Credit: NCM

"Britto's work combines the intensity of the expressionists, the geometry of Cubism and the reference to mass culture in Pop Art. He masterfully uses his style, form and color to address a variety of social and political issues. Not a silent activist, Britto has donated time, art, and resources to mare than 250 charitable organizations." Credit: NCM
